We are continuing the work of Jesus... peacefully, simply, together.

The Atlantic Southeast District is a geographic region of the Church of the Brethren (COB) comprising of 18 churches within the states of Florida. Beyond local churches, the ministry of the ASE is also bolstered by one church camp and district gatherings that encourage spiritual growth and leadership development.

The mission of the ASE is to care for our congregations and fellowships by enabling ministry in them, by fostering an inter-connectedness among them, and by implementing, coordinating and supporting ministries beyond them.

OUR DENOMINATION

Church of the Brethren is a Christian denomination whereby its central emphasis is not a creed, but a commitment to follow Christ of the New Testament in simple obedience, to be faithful disciples in the modern world. Tracing its history back to 1708, the COB believes in God as Creator and loving Sustainer, confess the Lordship of Christ, and seeks to be guided by the Holy Spirit in every aspect of life, thought, and mission.

For Brethren people, our essential beliefs are summed up in affirmations:

  • We affirm the need for lifelong and faithful study of God's Word.

  • We affirm the human need for forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ as Savior.

  • We affirm faithful obedience in the world.

  • We affirm celebrating and living out faith in church community.

  • We affirm commitment to the larger church's mission of witness, service, and reconciliation.

  • We affirm ordinances of baptism, love feast, communion, foot washing, and anointing.

  • We affirm principles of peacemaking, simple living, and community.
